It comes with a short handle and the chain decoration can also be used as a handle or removed completely. The chain itself has a stitching detail around each link to make it look like leather as well. The long handle or strap buckles like a belt to make it longer or shorter. That's a very easy way to adjust the length of the shoulder strap. The color is a deep rich black and the leather is strong but still supple and soft. The style works with any outfit since it is small but still has plenty of room to carry everything needed. It has a zipper pocket on the back and two inside but none are large enough for my large Samsung Ultra 25 phone, but it fits fine in the interior pocket. My large wallet that carries all my cards, money and change also fits inside which I'm really pleased about.
