SharkBite 23036-0000LF Brass Push Angle Stop, 1/2 in. x 3/8 in. Compression, Chrome

I love them they work so well and so easily to install. I’ve had them on for over a year and no leaks.

Amazon's description is confusing and sounds a bit amateurish. This stop valve is the best available. It is ideal for CPVC stub outs found in many of the houses built in the past 20 years. Most all CPVC requires a special glue that cost about $5 for a brush in cap metal container. That glue dries out in the can, so if you do one repair, the actual cost is on the order of $15, with the rest of the can of glue wasted. Nothing can be easier with this valve. You must, however, make sure that the pipe, where it is sealed with the "o" ring is clean and without burrs. Just look inside the end, and you will see the "o" ring just beyond the stainless steel "claws" that hold the pipe in the fitting. So, these are long life fittings. There are NO so called hard to secure proprietary seals. The "push in" fitting was pioneered by John Guest in the UK twenty years, ago. Their patents expired a few years, ago, to the benefit of all. They are the choice for high pressure hydraulic lines in the industry, since the grip of the stainless steel jaws increases as pressure increases. The nice thing is that I will NOT have to cut off and shorten the "stub" as with a glued fitting, for a future replacement. I've tried compression fittings by replacing the brass sleeve with a nylon one, but they do not grip hard cpvc pipe well. The riser fitting could be a "push-in" fitting, too, but the manufacturer chose to use a compression nut for ready made hose type risers. I prefer less expensive PEX tubing risers which could use the "push in" connector. The decorative "U" sleeve on the stub out end has the benefit that it can be used to release the fitting by just reversing it and pushing on the fitting's end. There is NO need to buy the special release tool or to find the one that you may already have in your tool box. As for Amazon.com, their service is phenomenal. I had one stop that leaked around the stem. Amazon shipped a replacement out right away and provided a return shipping label at no cost to me. I don't blame Amazon or the manufacturer. Defects do happen. How it is resolved is very important.

Easy to install

I grew up as a offspring of a hardcore plumber. Learned how to sweat brass fittings to copper with Mapp at the ripe old age of 5. Was running copper lines and angle compression stops as my Dad napped in the truck.. Did that for years. Thank God for the energy of youth and getting paid with Cheeseburgers. While recently replacing a toilet, I ordered a couple of these angle stops with a compression stop in my pocket just in case.. I'm impressed.. Really impressed.. I removed the old compression stop and ferrule with a ol-timey puller, smoothed out the 1/2" copper with some 400 grit sandpaper and then followed it with some steel wool. I noted that the copper, while clean, still had a small groove from the 30 year old compression ferrule. Hesitantly, I pushed the new Sharkbite stop onto the copper and it bottomed out where I thought it would. My internal confusion was that the fitting when installed still spun around the copper pipe. Learned later that this was not a problem unless wrenching a nut onto the stop. The O-Ring was making the seal. Once pressure was up and tested, I connected the toilet line without incident. Twisted the valve on and off multiple times with no breach on the seal. As a point of reference, I used the other Sharkbite valve I ordered as a test to abuse and find a limit. I can honestly say that with a clean and "semi-polished" connection surface, I could not make the angle stop fail. That same angle stop is currently under use in the same bathroom on a different copper line. Wonderful product.. Will never go back to, cinching up compression valves ever again, waiting for the drip....... Please send me a dozen.. I want to replace all of the angle stops in my house..

I didnt realize these valves spin freely when installed which was worrying at first. It doesnt look as clean as it could if the valve would stay at 90°. Theres no indication anywhere that the little plastic part is decorative. It just stuck on the pipe and the job was done. No skill required.

Worked like a charm. My home has/had plastic one piece water valve for the sinks & toilets etc. Over the last year I have begun to switch them out for new valves and new water lines. I was using the compression type of angle valves and came onto Amazon to order some and saw the SharkBite angle stops 1/2 inch for copper lines which is what we have. I ordered two of these to see if they worked as advertised and put them on today. So easy and no issues at all! I cut the old valves off with my dremel and the used emery cloth to clean the copper pipe really well and then in one motion press the fitting on firmly until it stops. I then gave a good tug just to be sure they were locked on. After hooking up the water lines and turning on the water, they work fine. (I did have my son on the phone as I turned the water on outside in case one blew off). I have checked them several times since earlier today and no signs of leaks. I'll check them over the next few days. I am very impressed with this product. So much easier than using two wrenches and using a compression style fitting which can take additional tightening, time, etc. I will be ordering many more of these as I switch out more of the valves and lines. I am including pictures of the old and the new SharkBite valves.

I love these. My house has all those old style shutoff valves that are stuck open from decades of hard water, and there's like a 90% chance of leaking or breaking if I try to close them. I tried to replace one and it was a real pain removing the old metal compression sleeve to install a new one. To use these Sharkbites all I had to do is cut off the old valve (and sleeve) with a pipe cutter, polish up 1 inch of the remaining pipe and slip it on. That's all. And if I ever need to change it out there's a removal tool (or you can use a wrench the same size as the water pipe) to push against the release collar on the back of the Sharkbite and it will slip right off. Since it's so easy to install them you can first complete your Sharkbite to sink connection, (wrap your Teflon tape and tighten the hose down), then just slip the Sharkbite into place and you are done. This made installing an RO water filter so much easier as I had 2 lines to the Sharkbite, one for the sink and the other for the RO, (it came with an adaptor piece to connect the 2 lines to the shutoff valve) I was able to install and tighten everything to the Sharkbite before crawling under the sink. All I had to do then was just push the Sharkbite onto the prepared water pipe. You should know that the Sharkbite can freely rotate around the pipe so if you don't want it to move while turning the valve you should get the straight and not the angled model pictured (where the valve is on the side and the sink connection is on the end). No big deal either way. Just sayin.'

Everytime I have used this brand, repairing old work or installing new. I have never had a leak when fallowing basic rules of insulation. Quality control of flow, no drips, solid feel. I just like the performance and quality of a good product. This is one of those products. Will always buy the Sharkbite brand!
