DT 770 PRO - 32 Ohm

***UPDATE*** Right after writing this review, the left earphone cut out. I think I have a refurbished unit. I will be returning this to amazon and getting a replacement, because my review still stands for how good they sound. ***UPDATE TWO*** New headphones delivered, still sound fantastic. No problems yet. Back to 5 stars for now. ***UPDATE 2.1*** Try listening to DragonForce on these, your mind will explode, it sounds so amazing. These headphones make every other $300 or less headphone sound like earbuds from a McDonald's Happy meal. Seriously I am astounded as to how good they sound. I really wish I had just listened to all of the reviews and recommendations from all over the internet and different forums saying to buy these, with people doing comparisons of these to other headphones, but I was not satisfied in my quest to find the best closed back headphone, so I bought a few off different headphones off Amazon and compared them. I have owned a pair of HyperX Clouds for over two years, which are themselves fantastic headphones, as they are a clone of the DT 770's that get lets say 80% of the way there. Going from those and putting these on, holy crap the difference, I am lost for words. I am writing this review as I am listening to Boston on the DT 770's because I simply can't bring myself to take them off. I can tell you that in my search for a new pair of headphones I have tried the AudioTechnica M50x, the Senhieser 598's closed back, the HyperX Cloud's, the Cloud Alpha, and the Pioneer HRM - 6's. Specifically, I was looking for a pair of closed back audiophile grade headphones with good passive noise isolation, good sound stage, and good dynamic range, with the intent on using them for travel on planes. These are by far and away better than all of those. The sound stage is the largest you will EVER hear on closed back headphones, hell they have a bigger sound stage than some open back headphones I have tried, its truly amazing. The drivers in these things are FAST, you will absolutely hear new levels, background instruments, and shades to your music with these that you have not heard before unless you already had a pair of 300$ + headphones. Bass is accurate, tight, and punchy, mids are present and not recessed at all (unlike the m50x or HRM - 6), and treble is crisp but not tiring. They fit my head very well, with the cups not touching my ears at all and the cushions being very soft. Noise isolation is also excellent, even better then the HyperX Clouds (not the Alpha's), which were already fantastic at blocking out external sound. I literally have a portable air-conditioner running about 2 feet behind me right now, and the DT 770's block that out 90% of the way without any music even playing. I even had my roommate talk next to me, and his voice was reduced by 70%. Once you start listening to music, you wont hear anything. One thing to mention is that despite having the 32 Ohm model, a small portable amplifier can go a long way to helping your Walkman / iPod / Phone drive these things, my Walkman a45 needs to be at 80-90% volume to drive them by itself, so I just picked up a FiiO A3 portable amp and it works like magic, adding plenty of volume headroom as well as boosting the mids a little which is nice (even though they didn't need it). I absolutely recommend these headphones. Get them. Right now. Yes, they look like they were made in the 80's-90's. Yes, the cable is non-detachable. But you are simply not going to find better closed back headphones anywhere at this price point that come even close to matching the DT 770's performance. I promise you won't regret it.

I'll leave the detailed reviews of the sound quality to all the audiophiles out there and just give you my take-away from these headphones: First and foremost, they are EXTREMELY COMFORTABLE! This was honestly the #1 thing I was looking for in a pair of headphones and these ones certainly deliver. I decided at time of purchase to also buy the Beyerdynamic EDT 770 V Replacement Ear Pads (Pair) - Velour / Silver since the 32nm pair I bought, despite being the most expensive, did not come with the Velour earpads. I completely agree with the one reviewer on here ... the standard faux leather pads are just fine, but the Velour pads are amazing! Swapping them out was easy enough (do a YouTube video search because the instructions weren't the clearest) and I was able to wear these babies for hours on end with no discomfort at all! Secondly, the 32nm ones are perfect for using with my Galaxy Nexus phone to listen to music. I did not get a chance to "burn in" these headphones much before using them, but after several hours of being on a plane using them almost constantly, I will say I think they started to sound even better than out of the box (which like most people, didn't WOW me but they were certainly decent-sounding). They seemed to emphasize the bass in the music ever so slightly (which was actually quite pleasing to me) while still faithfully reproducing the midrange and treble. The only slight disappointment was when playing episodes of Star Trek TNG on my Nexus 7 tablet. At times it was hard to hear the dialog even with the volume on the tablet cranked all the way up. However, I feel no need to blame the headphones for this since, 1) I was on a plane with lots of background noise (which the headphones did a decent job of blocking out anyway) and, 2) the Nexus 7 tablet never seems to provide enough amplification for ANY pair of headphones. Seriously, I spent hours researching which headphones to buy, looked at all the ones recommended on various websites and read reviews on here. I initially balked at spending $250 on a pair of headphones, but I simply couldn't find another pair that was going to offer the comfort for hours of continuous use or the ability to use with a phone or tablet without needing a separate amplifier. Do yourself a favor and buy these with the Velour earpads if you're looking for something you can wear for hours and hours, sound great, and work fantastically with your phone/tablet/mp3 player!

My dad was a DJ and I grew up with various Sony headphones, they always touched the top of my ear and hurt after a few hours (I was attached to my discman). These Beyerdynamics are the first headphone in my LIFE that completely clear my ear all around, there is an audio seal, it sounds like I have entered a metal chamber when I put these on. Sound is beautiful, relistening to my album collection because I am detecting middle frequencies that I have never heard before! Update: Love these so much, my dad tried them and loved them, so I bought a second pair for him. they have a sense of luxury with the soft pads and full sound, recommended

Confusing title I know. The DT770 is great, really great. Within moments of trying it on, I could hear things in some of my favourite songs which I had never heard before. I'm an audio engineer and I thought it was about time I get a good pair of headphones to assist in mixing on the go. Coming from a pair of V-Moda Crossfade LPs, this was a new direction but the right one for me. Other than the incredible detail I noticed, the bass was really nice and round without being boomy. I guess that's because the headphones focus more on the lower bass reigons rather than the upper. This is a good thing in my opinion, you can pick out upper bass notes easier and still have the kick to the whole lower end. The mids, ah, they were different for me. I initially thought they were recessed and it does seem like that, but after a bit of research they seem to be quite neutral. So I guess it's going to take awhile for my ears to get used to it. I have been living my life listening to mid-focused equipment. The vocals in music from these headphones do sound distant somehow, could be because of the neutral mids? But when I listen to audiobooks, the mids sound fine! The soundstage is pretty good for closed cans. I would've liked something even wider but that would venture into semi-open headphones which does seal much ambient noise. So now here's why I don't like it a little. The headphones are honest. They really help you to figure out what needs to be done in a mix. This is great for audio engineers like myself. However because of this brutal honesty, for leisure listening purposes, I would not use these. I know many people do but I wouldn't. It's too uncoloured for me to enjoy. I admit I enjoy coloured, dishonest headphones when I'm not working. With them, I don't feel like I have to be critical about a song's balance, mix and so on. I just enjoy the song as it is. I've tried the 80ohm version as well but since I needed something for mobile usage, I went with the 32ohm. They sound pretty much the same to me! Other than sound, the build quality is great. These come with pvc leather pads that are quite comfortable. I bought a pair of velour pads as well just as backup. Tried both on and even the pads makes a difference! The pvc one does warm things up a bit both in sound quality and your ears! So in the meantime, I'll stick with the pvc pads! The cable for the 32ohm version is perfect! It's got a nice length to it unlike the 250ohm version with it's 100 mile long cable. The headband is nice and firm without being tight. I could sleep with these on all night! So to sum things up, I do recommend these to audio engineers or people that appreciate honest headphones! They are comfortable, can be powered by your iPhone (32ohm ver), good cable length, bass has a really nice warm kick to it, mids are distinct and highs are clear, transparent without sounding brittle. I would suggest breaking these in if it sounds bright initially as it did to me.

I've been putting off writing this review because I wanted to do a bunch of A/B testing against my ATH M50s but I keep those at work and just never have the two headsets in the same room. So I'll just give you my impressions. The sound in this unit is good. Very good. Much better than a standard basic headphone. Of course you paid significantly more than you would for a basic headphone, so it should. Subjectively, I *think* I prefer the ATH M50 for sound. I also have the Sennheiser HD595, which is way different from either one, but I think gives a more detailed sound than either. The Sennheisers can be light on bass, but you can hear a ton of stuff in there. The M50's are probably heavier on bass. The comfort is pretty good. While the M50 crushes the ear, this goes all the way over the ear. It's comfy for a while. After a time it gets real hot. I think that's true of all closed headphones, though. It clamps decently strongly to the head. My Sennheisers are open and vasty more comfortable, but they don't hold your head very well. They are open headphones, so they let a lot of sound and air in and out anyway. Design-wise, these are very large. They look like earmuffs. They do go all around the ear and provide very good passive sound isolation. Good enough that you will miss it when people in the room talk to you. The cord is very short and not curly. Handy if you are plugging it into speakers on your desk or a device in your hand, but even if you plug it into a computer below the desk, they cord won't reach. This contrasts with my M50's, which have a cord that goes on and on forever. A little plastic decal peeled off the side pretty early on. I ended up supergluing it back in place. That was pretty unexpected for a rather high-end headphone like this. Anyway, these are good headphones. Great for isolating and good quality with ok to good comfort. I don't regret buying them at the price I got them (on some kind of super sale) but they aren't vastly better than other good quality cans.

I do not have a headphone amp Played on Macbook and iPhone 4S, for a second on Mbox 2 Pro Own Dre Beats Studio, Sennheiser HD280, Creative Bluetooth’s, various in-ears I have to first start out by saying that I am no expert on headphones. Ok now with that aside I have to say that I am impressed with the DT770 32 ohm headphones. At first I was a little disappointed and thought about returning them. I thought I might have received some fake ones, for more reasons than the sound. However I am in Colombia, South America at the moment and it takes a while for mail to get back and forth. I decided to give them about an hour or so of some mythical “burn in” time and wala, they were sounding a little better. The first thing noticed was the sound stage; it was remarkable compared to many other headphones I’ve tried. At one point it sounded like someone was playing a musical instrument behind me. The highs were initially too high, but I downloaded an iPhone App called Accudio pro and selected my headphone model from the menu. It helped and they sounded good, but the App did not have a shuffle option so now I just set the iPhone EQ to flat and it sounds good. The second reason is why I am making these my all time favorite headphones; it’s the comfort level. By the way I bought the velour pads to replace the soft skin pads. I tried out the soft skin pads for about one minute and figured the velour would feel better and oh do they! Below is my review on the velour pads: After much deliberation I decided to buy the 32 ohm DT770's, however they came with the soft skin ear pads and not the very comfortable velour pads. I have to say, I only tried on the soft skin pads for about 1 minute, but I can tell you that these velour pads are ridiculously comfortable. Yesterday I wore them for roughly 13 hours straight! This is not an exaggeration. I played poker from 10pm - 2 am while listening to hip hop, 2 am to 6 am while listening to classical as I completed a midterm, then from 6 am to 11 am while bumping some R&B getting ready for some online trading. These bump up the value of my headphones by about $100 in my opinion. I currently own Dre Beats Studio, Creative bluetooth's, and some Altec Lansing in ear's. I couldn't imagine wearing any of those for as long as I can with the DT770's combined with these pads. I am satisfied at how much the iPhone can push them but I would still like to try the 80 ohm out. These are much better the beats in a couple of different ways. The bass is cleaner and tighter, these headphones are lighter and more comfortable, and these to not have any interference with my macbook or Mbox2 Pro. I have not yet used these to actually mix yet, but I will in the very near future since these are the only headphones that I can use right now since I am out of country. I would still like to purchase the ATH-M50’s and test those as well though. I am also going to be purchasing a Fiio E11 to push these headphones so we’ll see if they can sound better pushed with a fairly inexpensive amp. I’d just like to say that Amazon is a great place to shop, especially if you are overseas!

Starting a new job at a company with an open workspace floor plan. That's going to be tough, though I. Maybe some closed back headphones will provide me with a small sense of isolation.... So, I listened to a bunch, listed below in my order of preference, with my favorites at the top. These are all closed back, with prices ranging from $120 up to $300. Music source was a laptop connected to a DAC/Headphone Amp via USB. (I also tested various DAC/Amps but the headphones make the larger difference.) I've kept notes on my impressions brief and included comparisons amongst the headphones in this list. If you want flowery vocabulary I'm sure in depth reviews are available out there on the web. --- beyerdynamic DT 700 PRO X Closed-Back Studio Headphones Very good. Get you involved with the music. Brighter than A990Z but not painfully so. I don't think these would be fatiguing. Bass solid but not overemphasized. Very comfortable. Feel secure. Audio-Technica ATH-A990Z Art Monitor Closed-Back Dynamic Headphones Good. Balanced. Not overly bright. Good space. Etherial. One could definitely listen to these all day without fatigue. Fit: Feel loose. Odd headband. Cans are LARGE. Audio-Technica ATH-M50X Professional Studio Monitor Headphones Good. Bright. Maybe too bright. Yet not as clear as the 700 PRO X. Comfort is ok. There's a bit more pressure around the ears than some, and the cans are on the smaller side so positioning them is key. beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 32 ohm Limited Edition Professional Studio Headphones Good. Less efficient than the 700 PRO X, which doesn't make a ton of sense since these claim to have lower impedance. Significanty brighter than the 700 PRO X. They do lack bass - noticible even with male vocals. Very comfortable. Audio-Technica ATH-M70X Closed-Back Dynamic Professional Studio Monitor Headphones Bright, but lack bass. It's just not there. Scarcely more bass than the MSR7b8K's. I'd say these are "vocal forward" - lots of detail in the vocal range. I prefer the M50X. Slightly more base. Slightly warmer. Comfort is good. Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7bBK Over-Ear High-Resolution Headphones OK. Bright. Lack body (weak bass). Light. Short cord. Did not come with a 1/4" plug or an adapter. Clearly intended for a pocket source. Audio-Technica ATH-A550Z Art Monitor Closed-Back Dynamic Headphones Bad. Lack midrange. Too much trebble. If you like this style I strongly recommend that you save a bit and get the ATH-A990Z. Comfortable, but feel a bit loose. Huge cans. SENNHEISER HD 569 Closed Back Headphone Bad. Disappointing. Total lack of detail. Cymbals present in other headphones are scarcely noticed. Large-ish, tall cans.

For years I used the Audio-Technica ATH-M20x headphones because a) they are cheap, b) they have a pretty flat response, and c) happened to be what my local music store had in stock. And with all that considered, they are not bad headphones. But then I started working from home... Suddenly, I was no longer wearing headphones for short moments when I needed to crank the sound up. With two toddlers living in the same house, I found I needed to wear them for hours at a time in order to focus. This resulted in much fatigue around my ears. They were being pressed against in head in ways that hurt when worn long periods. I also started to notice they would sit heavy on the top of my head and I would get sore where the head band was. "Oh well" I thought. "All the more reason for me to finish out my basement and move down there." But months passed, I needed a quicker solution. So I searched the interwebs. Enter the DT 770 Pro headphones by Beyerdynamic. These things are superb! Not only can I wear them for hours on end without pain, but they also work comfortably while wearing my blue light glasses. I purchased the 32 Ohm model and here are some things I noticed after using them for a week: - They are slightly quieter than the ATH-M20x and with less bass. However I have not found that to be an issue. It has actually allowed me to hear a fuller range and master audio better. - You will notice the difference if they are plugged into a subpar headphone amp. I use some fairly cheap monitors that have a headphone jack. After getting these I've stopped using that jack and have started plugging the headphones straight into the headphone jack for the computer. The quality jumps up when I do. - Sound insulation is good considering there is no active noise cancelling. People have to knock with confidence on my office door to get my attention. - The cord is shorter than my other headphones. Not an issue for me considering where my computer sits. However I can imagine that could be an issue if your computer is located on the floor. That could be solved with a headphone amp. All that said, I consider the Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro headphones to be a worthwhile investment and would recommend them to anyone looking for comfortable headphones with quality sound at reasonably affordable price.

Kulaklık gerçekten de çok kaliteli. Stüdyo kulaklıklar sesi düz ve sade verir tamam ama bu dinlediğiniz şarkıların yavan olacağı anlamına gelmiyor. İlk taktığımda saatlerce çıkarmak istememiştim. Kulaklık pedleri gerçekten konforlu ancak yine de bi süre sonra rahatsızlık veriyor. Bunun yerine kaliteli stüdyo hoperlör de alınabilir, kablosuz BT kulaklık da alınabilir. Daha hafif ve konforlu olur. Tercih meselesi tabi.

I got the 32ohm one. General uses and listen to music. I also have a few from Sennheiser and AKG. Although, 770 are long time studio standards and I also use those before but I never own one. Build: I feel confident with these. These will last long with proper care. Even if something damaged you can always replace the part. Comfort: These are very comfortable and does not get me sweating. I wear glasses so it does get a bit of annoying after an hour or so but that is a problem for every one who has to wear a pair glasses. Bass: Excellent. Deep sub bass. Even entire range is close to natural if not completely flat. Might a bit of lake around high bass but we can EQ that. But not necessary to EQ. Mid: Flat, clear and details. Voices are present and clear. Treble: Well, I did hear some sibilants. Sharp "S", "SH" sounds. Specially when you listen to Shreya Ghoshal :P this hurts my ears. That is usually because of a peak between 8khz and 10khz. We can EQ that easily. And also I think there is a bit of recess between 3khz and 5kzh. If you listen to electric guitar you will realize that. Sound-stage: Never expected to have such enjoyable sound stage. These are close back and considering that it does have a decent sound stage. You can easily shift your attention from one instrument to another. Nothing overlaps. Vocal is right at the center and rest of the instruments are surrounding you. Although not as wide as some open back headphones but this is great. Also if you wear glasses the sound will slightly change. So experience is best without glasses. Also close your eyes :P If you are not a professional then I believe DT 770 pro 32ohm are overall a full package. Good build, excellent sound, detailed and decent sound-stage. I do have a little bit of tuning with these. So below my chart: 30hz => Q1.4 , Low Shift, 2db gain 226hz => Q1.4, Bell, 3db gain 2.5khz => Q3, Bell, -2db gain 3.5khz => Q3.5, Bell, 3db gain [9khz => Q4.36, bell, -6db gain] OR [6kzh => High shift, -4db gain 9kz => Q4.36, bell, -3db gain]

Andaba buscando y buscando, entre muchas marcas unos auriculares de estudio que fueran cerrados, cómodos, polivalentes y con una respuesta lo más plana posible. Y he dado en el clavo porque son comodísimos. La sensación que uno siente nada más ponérselos, comparados con los famosos AUDIOTECHNICA M40X, o los Sony MDR7506, (que también los probé), es de una comodidad muy buena y que no aprietan apenas nada como sí los de Audiotechnica, lo justo y necesario para que no se te caigan de la cabeza con esas grandes copas aterciopeladas que tienen, para crear un buen espacio sonoro. Son cascos de estudio polivalentes, tanto para monitorizar en estudio, como para componer, o mezclar y masterizar. Aunque para mezclar y masterizar siempre es conveniente tener también monitores de estudio, y comparar con los cascos, ya que su respuesta no es plana, plana. Y nunca se recomienda profesionalmente trabajar solo con auriculares, o eso dicen. Tampoco los recomiendo como sonidista para grabar sonido directo, debido a sus 80ohm que harán que ahí sí notes esa falta de extra de volumen, o esos agudos que los Beyer no terminan de sacar sin preamplificación. Si algún sonido externo se puede colar, puede que no lo escuches, y sin embargo con los Sennheiser hd280 pro o los Sony mdr 7506 sí lo harás. También he de decir que tras horas de uso, sin apenas notarlos, por lo menos en otoño, invierno que es desde cuando los tengo, al quitarte los cascos, al ser estos cerrados, sientes como un abombamiento en los oídos que te impiden escuchar temporalmente pero levemente medios y agudos, algo así como cuando sales de una discoteca o un concierto, pero sin el famoso biiip de agudos. Pero creo que esto debe ocurrir en todos o casi todos los auriculares de tipo cerrado. También decir que son bastante robustos y que todas sus piezas son reemplazables y además es una marca alemana de mucho prestigio cuya elaboración de estos audífonos data de los 80. Quizá puedan ser algo pesados, pero al poco te acostumbras a ellos ya que no aprietan para nada y además en pocos días la diadema va creando holgura. Como contra, debo decir que estos son de 80ohm, están hechos para estudio, aunque tienen a su hermano mayor de 250ohms específico, pero esto no significa que no puedas escucharlos perfectamente en tu ordenador o portátil. Claro que puedes, y se escuchan perfectamente, eso sí, los primeros días pensarás que quizá les falte algo de más fuerza en potencia de volumen, porque tendrás que tenerlos casi al máximo si los comparas con otros como los SONY MDR7506 o los Audiotechnica M40X, pero dales una oportunidad durante los días de prueba y verás que probablemente no necesites tanto volumen a la hora de trabajar. Y si no te convence, además tienes la opción de añadirle un preamplificador de auriculares o bien una tarjeta de sonido externa dedicada con su preamplificador y conversor DAC, como la SOUNDBLASTER PLAY 3, que por 20€ que me costó, tiene una opción específica en su menú que te da más potencia para auriculares que poseen más ohms de los habituales. Es una tarjeta sencillísima de instalar y se conecta mediante usb y de este a la salida de cascos. Pero en mi caso, la compré y ciertamente ya no la utilizo apenas, no necesito ese extra de volumen que creía necesario a la hora de trabajar. Y por último, decir que también probé la versión de 32ohms pero no me convenció del todo, además el cable es de apenas un metro y sus copas son de cuero falso molesto, porque a pesar de que estos son más aptos para dispositivos móviles y ordenadores, sin embargo pienso que el sonido que saca no tiene mucha diferencia de los de 80ohms, en cuanto a potencia y respuesta plana, aunque ligeramente tienes un extra de agudos que apenas son perceptibles y teóricamente son más planos. Pero me quedo con los de 80ohms, con su cable de 3m y sus copas aterciopeladas ultrasuaves que los de 32ohms no poseen, pero que sí puedes reemplazar, aunque tienen un cable de apenas un metro y son más apretados. PROS: *Comodísimos, de los mejores que he probado *Sonido muy profesional con una buena respuesta plana o apenas coloreada *Cable larguísimo de 3m para estudio *Calidad precio muy bien. 115€ cuando los compré aquí *Robustos con todas sus partes reemplazables CONTRAS: *Tras horas de uso puedes sentir un ligero abombamiento en los oídos temporalmente *Son 80 ohm, y tal vez necesites de un pre amplificador de auriculares o una tarjeta de sonido externa tipo como la SOUNDBLASTER PLAY 3 por tan sólo 20€ *No recomiendo su uso profesional para grabación de sonido directo como sonidista debido a sus 80ohm, (excepto en grabadoras profesionales, como la Sound Devices Mix Pre10-T que sí acepta esas impedancias) ya que a falta de ese extra de volumen necesario, lo que oyes puede quedar algo bajo, no escuchar algunos agudos que puedan colarse, y tengas que subir innecesariamente la ganancia
