Creator Expert Winter Holiday Train 10254 Construction Set

This train is fantastic and goes great with the rest of the Winter Village sets. The Power Functions accessories (sold separately) are easy to install and work great. This is actually the sturdiest remote control train I have ever used right out of the box. My only complaint would be that adding the motor and battery pack requires sacrificing some of the great looks of the train. The cables can be a bit unwieldy and have to be stuffed into the cab, part of the engine is replaced with a less attractive gray (rather than green) piece, and worst of all the coal car is filled with an unattractive battery pack that just looks out of place and unattractive. Luckily this is Lego, so it is possible to make up for these problems with a bit of ingenuity. I added 2 studs worth of height to the coal car and covered the pack with black plates to look like coal. See the attached photos for before and after pictures. All in all I would call this the best self contained Christmas train on the market.

This is a great little set, budget for buying the parts to motorize it as well. Completely worth it. The tree is adorable. I was concerned as others had complained about it not turning but we have had no problems. The construction did take some time, but our 5 eyar old assemebled the majority by himself so not to hard.

Bouthmmght this for my husband's Xmas eve bday. He loves that he'll be able to put it around the tree and begin collecting his own Xmas Lego village underneath the tree. The parts to make the train move are not included, but he was able to easily find them at the Lego store. This does require 9 AAA batteries. The train is detailed and you'll want more tracks if you intend for it to wrap around the base of a big tree. I think the amount of tracks included were the circumference of a small hula hoop. Worth the money and we'd buy again.

I'm one of those adults newly come to the world of LEGO. I was impressed with how enjoyable the build was, and the final product is very cute. I had one missing (lost? ) piece, and LEGO promptly mailed me another. SInce then, I've got more pieces of the Christmas Village, extra track, and I have BIG plans for my holiday display next year!

Pros: + Very nice looking Christmas train + Christmas tree rotates while train moves + Excellent addition of small Christmas toys + Can add in power functions very easily Cons: - None. Overall: A must for any LEGO fan during Christmas time. I bought this December 2017 and it really completed the Christmas tree, but the best part is that it's a LEGO Christmas train! Only thing to note is that f you want the train to encircle your Christmas presents, you will need to buy more track to enlarge the circle. The provided track is around 3 feet in diameter,so it will be hidden under the tree and by the presents.

Really, it's a Lego train set. It is a very nice set and we loved putting it together. I next need to motorize it so that it will run on remote control next year for Christmas. I really appreciate all the little details in the train, especially the miniature locomotive around the tree. Seriously, how cool to have a Lego train going around the tree that, also, has a Lego train going around a tree?

Update on 2/24/2020: I recently modified my train to have the motor under the coal car, and also upgraded to the Powered Up (Power Functions 2.0) Bluetooth system. See comment below my original review. Also - this train will burn through batteries very fast. Do yourself a favor and invest in some rechargeable AAA's. At least for the Hub on the train itself. The remote control batteries last a long time. Original Review: Train is beautifully designed, except for the Power Functions used to motorize it. The motorization is cool when it actually works, but the train wheels skip on the tracks a lot. Numerous other reviews on Amazon and the Lego site have covered these issues so I won't get into the details. Luckily, I purchased the Power Functions items directly from Lego because they were cheaper (You need four items - IR Receiver, battery pack, motor, & remote control). I first called Lego to say the train was having trouble running back in the beginning of January. Almost two months and multiple phone calls later, Lego has replaced the IR receiver, then the battery pack, and finally the motor. Each time the customer service rep is convinced the specific part would solve the problem, and if have to wait 2 weeks for the part to ship (from Denmark). The first 2 replacements (IR Receiver & battery pack) solved nothing. The replacement motor seems to be helping, I only installed it today. The train barely runs if all four cars are attached (wheels skip really, really bad), but is running okay with just the engine and coal car. We'll see if that lasts. It usually loses power after a day or 2. I think the real issue is bad engineering and integration of the Power Functions. It seems like there is not enough power to pull the weight of the train. The motor is only powered by 6 AAA batteries. As I said, glad I purchased the Power Functions through Lego - they were very helpful with troubleshooting, though it was a slow process. Since nothing is working, they're refunding the money from the Power Functions. I doubt I'd have gotten this level of customer service from Amazon, or the willingness to give a refund so long after the purchase. In fact, the return period for the train from Amazon ended a month ago, so there's probably nothing I can do except write this review, even though it isn't my fault the troubleshooting with Lego took so long. I do recommend the train, it is really a neat set, just don't be disappointed if the Power Functions option doesn't work well, maybe don't get the train if you are only getting it for the motorization.

We bought this as our family train. It is bright and colorful and perfect for a Christmas Train. It looks like it will be a great holiday tradition for many years to come. We bought the motors and remote. It was very easy to put together despite the detail and small part. The christmas tree even spins as the train moves. If you have little ones, the train does come apart very easily. We also bought the train depot (it was a gift to my husband). The Depot comes with 4 extra tracks to lengthen the train. yay. No regrets on buying this train!

Now a retired set, so quite expensive but very well received and given the thumbs up as a lovely Christmas build! In many ways this is a distinct improvement over the previous Holiday Train (10173) despite being quite a bit smaller. That said, the fully assembled train is still over 50cm in length. A simple build with plenty of nice little details as well as a few interesting techniques, it is also compatible with a separate motor kit. It comes with a large circular track, though it functions just as well if displayed on just a few sections of track.

Der Weihnachtszug von LEGO mit der Set Nummer 10254 aus der Creator Serie. Dieses Jahr gab es bei uns den Weihnachtszug als Deko unter den Weihnachtsbaum. Voraus gesagt hatten die Kinder sichtlich Spaß zu zuschauen wie der kleine LEGO Zug seine kreise zog. Doch bevor es dazu kam hatte Papa die Aufgabe gehabt ca. 3 Wochen vorher den Zug zusammen zu bauen. Aus insgesamt 714 Teilen wird der Zug zusammen gebaut. Nach etwa 2,Std hatte ich den kompletten Zug: Dampflok, Tender, Güterwagen und Personenwagen. Dazu gesellen sich 5 Lego Minifiguren. Die LEGO Klemmbausteine passen wieder mal wie wir es gewohnt sind zusammen. Die Steine Klemmen hervorragend zusammen. Das Spaltmaß ist überall gleichmäßig und sieht somit klasse aus. Was nicht im Set enthalten ist sind die Power Funktion um den Zug über die Schienen fahren zu lassen. Das heißt wer die Teile noch nicht zu Hause hat muss diese logischerweise zusätzlich dazu kaufen. Alles im allen ist de Weihnachtszug ein wunderbares Set das es seit 2016 nun schon gibt. Im Ersten Jahr Exklusiv nur bei LEGO danach kam es auf den freien Markt. Wir hatten an Heilig Abend hatten wir richtig Spaß die Augen der Kinder Leuchteten und als plötzlich von hinten der Zug unter dem Baum hervor kam war das Staunen riesig. Der Klassiker ist immer wieder ein Hinkucker und auch wenn er in die Jahre gekommen ist eigentlich schon ein Muss.

Lo compré para regalo de navidad de mi pareja y le encantó, compré también los mecanismos para mecanizar el tren y la verdad que queda muy bonito. Para reyes le he comprado la estación para crecer con la colección y ahora somos muy fan de lego.
