Very helpful to this parent of a sensory kid
I read "The Out of Sync Child" over a decade ago, after my daughter was first diagnosed with Dyspraxia. At the time, it helped us to understand how PT could help improve her fine motor skills, but also to accept that she would also have to deal with sensory issues all her life. Now that she is a college student, I wish that I had found THIS book back when my daughter entered high school. As she's grown, a 504 helped with issues related to Dysgraphia, but other issues related to the Dyspraxia and accompanying sensory integration problems cropped up. Those issues were exacerbated by younger siblings (one of which is also a sensory kid, but in the opposite sense), and having to cope with large crowds of other students on a daily basis. No wonder her anxiety was through the roof through her entire high school years! I have now read this book cover to cover, and handed it off to my daughter to read and keep for reference. It was very helpful to me to hear stories of how other sensory kids/adults felt, and how they have adapted as they have grown. I appreciate all the tips that are provided, and I'm sure my daughter will be going back to this book over and over to look for ideas on how to deal with her issues as situations arise.

Exactly what I needed.
I bought the first book many years ago when my son was diagnosed with sensory integration disfunction, which was so helpful, so I was so happy to have this book to help now that my son is 18. Easy read.

Great, great book
Great book, so inspirational, I loved the format of the book where people of different ages with SPD give their testimony about their challenges on growing with SPD. This book give you a lot hope reading on how many teenagers and young people with SPD could make a good an normal life and even thrive.
