SANDISK MobileMate USB 3.0 microSD Card Reader - SDDR-B531-GN6NN

This microSD card reader does exactly what it’s supposed to do. It's compact, easy to carry, and worked right away when I plugged it into my computer. I used it to transfer photos and videos from a microSD card, and the transfer speeds were quick with no issues. I also like how small it is because it doesn't take up much space in a laptop bag or camera case. The card fits securely, and I've had no problems with connectivity or reading files. Overall, this is a simple, reliable card reader that gets the job done and is a handy accessory to keep around if you regularly use microSD cards.

Problem: PCs these days don't usually have MicroSD readers and I needed one because I own phones and tablets. When I want to transfer gigs of pictures/videos to my PC this card reader does that easily and quickly. Speed: I bought this because its USB 3.0 which means I should get 500MB/s. When used with a C10 or U1 MicroSD that only does 100MB/s the card itself is the bottleneck. Even a U3 is 300MB/s peak transfer and a high quality V## MicroSD are the exact same UHS2 300MB/s speeds and means this device is somewhat futureproof for a while. Capacity: ZERO! On the user. I bought a 256GB U3 MicroSD card for less than 20$ to leave in it. Intended use vs actual use: Wanted it so I could transfer files easily but that's not that often. Practical use, I installed CallOfDuty and its 200+GB on the card and run my game off the chip now. I feel like it loads MW3 faster and is a bit smoother. Less than 30$ I kinda unintentionally got a setup that helped my gaming by freeing up space and improving my performance while still allowing me to transfer files from portable devices when I need to. Perfect for what it does and I'd buy another one if I ever need to. Parts are durable and its compact so I doubt it will break since there's nothing really to break. It's nice solid hardware and a great value for the price.

Paired this with a memory card and it is working perfectly to record dashcam footage in my Model 3

For some bizarre reason, it does not fit into the USB-A slot in the back of my Marantz M1 streaming amplifier. A different SD & micro SD reader that I own works fine in that slot, so I know it’s not a problem with the amp. I wanted a lower profile reader that wouldn’t stick out so far like the one I already had, which has both, USB-C and USB-A connectors on both ends, and reads both, SD and MicroSD cards, so it’s very long. This reader is beautifully small and low profile, but the connector refused to fit into the port on the amp. I have decided to keep it so I can use it for reading MicroSD cards the rest of the time and not have to pull my current reader from my amp just for that purpose, but the lack of USB-C connector will be a hassle in that case.

This little devil works great and is so easy. A must have for mp3 Bluetooth devices for easy file transfers.

03/24/2023 Update -- I plugged and unplugged several times, in a different laptop -- a new model Lenovo Flex and it worked. I was able to upload 20GB of files and to retrieve them as well. Why it is working in the new model laptop? I have not idea, but I will be keeping it for the simple reason that I had planned on using for a temporary backup and would not be removing the device once installed. It may be that the thin connections, from device to device may have need to be scrubbed (old school), to help make a clean connection. That is what is seems to be - by multiple removal and insertions, maybe, the same result. Of course, this does not lead to much confidence. If it was not for a clean manufacture packaging and being a Brand name, I would have tossed it. Unbelievable -- I did not work. Came in the Manufacture, sealed packaging -- I felt good about that, but it did not work -- oh, wait, it worked for about 30 seconds then just quit. I tired a known working 128GB card with files on it and go 0 readings. I wiggled and reinserted and reinserted -- but the final conclusion was -- It does not work. I have used and still use Sandisk micro cards for years without one fault or failure, and had great confidence in this small flash drive. Very disappointed. It was a Sandisk, 128GB micro Extreme sd card that I used, and I reinserted it back into another sd card reader and it was perfect. I know, a few others said the same thing, but others said they have a good one -- really disappointed. Update: 05/23/2023 -- Nope, still a piece of junk. Not even time brings this back to life. Done with it, to the trash, to the trash >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
