Tascam 202MKVII Dual cassette deck with USB output, Black, 202MKVII

I've been trying to use an old radio cassette through the stereo but they're not compatible and the amp kept cutting out. Didn't want to risk an old separate so this used modern tape player was ideal and can record to a computer or dub from tape to tape like the 1980s.

Great to hear all my old cassette demo studio recordings of bands from my youth.

Tascam has a rich history of producing quality reel to reel recorders and cassette decks for the professional market, and the 202MKVII doesn't disappoint. Its great product styling is very much echoed in its all round sonic performance. Having had it now for a month, I have found it to perform best with TDK Type II tapes such as the classic SA, SA-X and SF as well as That's VX tape. Unfortunately, you cannot record on Metal type tapes, but you can playback. Perhaps this is due to the limits of tape head manufacturers available. However, Tascam has made the best of what it has today. The USB feature enables you to transfer recordings to a PC at 16bit / 48kHz. I have tried it out using Audacity and the quality of transfer is excellent. There are of course many great second hand tape decks out there with better specifications. But if you want a new deck with replaceable parts and a manufacturers warranty, then this is the only new professional deck available today (as far as I know). Now, all we need is for TDK, Maxell and the other classic manufacturers to start producing new tape again!

A really professional quality and performance from TASCAM as always. Easy to install in my studio racks and a very important new member of my Tascam 'family' - prominent in my USA Florida, and my UK, London and West Country studios since 1993.

The Best Cassette Recorder ever.

I got it to digitise my boxes of tapes; doing fine so far.

We bought this as our old tape deck died and there aren't many options on the market currently. However, even despite the limited options this is a fantastic deck. It does all the hi end things you expect (auto noise reduction and tape detection being the best I've seen) and yet is still really simple and impressive in it's sound quality. Not cheap but if you're looking for a new double tape deck you can't go far wrong with this.

何より今でもカセットデッキを製作してくれているTEAC社に感謝を申し上げたいです。 動作はキビキビと気持ち良く反応します。EJECTはボタンメカニカルですが蓋がゆっくり開くタイプなので、無神経さがありません。動作中は押せないようになっております。 頭出し機能はありませんが、レックミュート機能はあります。巻き戻し早送りは早くも遅くもありません。 私が購入した分は左右のメカでアジマスが少し違うようなので、テープによって使い分けられると良い意味に解釈しています。オートリバース機能は省略されているので長持ちすると思います。繰り返し再生は20回まで。右側のメカは再生時にドルビーNR-B相当のノイズリダクションのオンオフが選べます。ドルビーBで録音した古いテープで高域が落ちてしまっている時はオフでちょうど良い再生音になるかもしれません。左のメカの再生時のみ動作するピッチコントロールは±約12%(音程で言うと±1音)分変えられます。 ダブルカセットデッキならではの機能として、片方の音をラインアウトさせながらもう片方の音をヘッドホンから流すこともできます。面白い機能だと思います。 録音レベルは低めがおすすめです。過大音量で歪みやすいです。 USB出力は本当に有り難く、大切なテープのデジタルアーカイブ化に役立っております。 状態の良いと思っていた古いビンテージデッキを何台か購入しましたが、買ってまもなくテープが絡んだりしたり色々な不具合に遭遇しました。やはり新品の安心感は大きな喜びに繋がるなと、購入して楽しんでおります。

The deck seems to work but the left deck has so much flutter, it is impossible to use it. After a few weeks of not so intense use, same starts with the right deck. Too late to send it back. This was the last thing I ever bought from Tascam. After a CD-recorder died prematurely, I see that TEAC and Tascam devices are complete crap. Doors sometimes don't close properly, noisy motor.

Buona piastra senza grandi pretese. Fa il suo lavoro in modo eccelso, la prima piastra puo' anche registrare e la seconda idem. Non è dotata di auto riverse ma di certo non mi suicido per questo... Sto facendo andare una cassetta e devo dire che il suono è buono, bassi e alti ben equilibrati. Ci sono poi varie impostazioni per sincronizzare le registrazioni e il playback. Piu' avanti dopo che l'avrò testata meglio aggiornerò la recensione, che per ora è positiva. Aggiornamento. Continuo a essere soddisfatto della piastra che funziona in modo egregio. L'unica cosa che non capisco è perché i counter dei giri del nastro si azzerano da soli. Poco male ma se mi servisse essere ad un certo punto del nastro non posso farlo.
