I ordered this diverter for a few reasons. I shopped around and found that the current price on Amazon is much lower than elsewhere so it’s a good deal. I like it because it’s smaller and looks neater than the other “cut your pipe in half” types. I wanted a diverter which can be switched off in Winter and I also like the way it fits via a single drill hole. So after buying a water butt, I delayed fitting it until this had arrived. I installed this onto a 7cm diameter plastic downpipe, so I trimmed the ends off the rubber water catcher as per the instructions. It’s very easy and quick to connect. The included drill bit works well and, to be honest, when marking the downpipe, whilst using a spirit level, was the only moment that I slowed down a bit, in order to make sure that the connections on the downpipe and the water butt were at the same height. The flexible pipe fits very snuggly onto the water butt connector. It wasn’t as tight where it fits the diverter connection, so I wrapped some PTFE tape around the connector a few times and the pipe now fits firmly onto the diverter. I tested that it collects water, by pouring some water into the gutter above. The water travels into the water butt and there are no leaks anywhere. It works really well so I’m very happy 😊👍🏼

I watched the video to install this, though there are instructions on the bag. It was easy seeing as they provide the right sized hole saw bit in the pack. Glad I bought this one as there's no need to cut your drainpipe in half and then insert the diverter. This is just done via a hole in the side of the pipe i.e. I could remove it and cover the hole if necessary. I've had a bad experience in the past with the sort that require you cutting the pipe in half - debris accumulated at the joint causing the drainpipe to block, the gutter to overflow, run down my wall and cause water damage. Never again.

We liked the design of the product but had to return because on the item we received the inter hose diameter was 32mm whilst the pipe on the diverter that it was to be pushed onto with a tight fit (using washing up liquid) was only 30mm. Hence it was so loose as to just fall off. The other end of the hose however was a very good tight fit on the part that was to be inserted into the water butt. This led us believe the diverter had been packaged with the wrong hose and water Butt fitment. Also we ordered this specific diverter after watching a fitting video on Garantia UKs website where the demonstrator clearly referred to it being fitted with a gauze panel to stop debris from the gutter being washed into the hose and ultimately the Butt. Having examined the diverter this would be a very clever design as any debris would be automatically flushed back down the drain pipe. Unfortunately our one did not have any gauze fitted inside. Maybe we were just unlucky to receive a faulty product. So 3 star for design if it had been as advertised by Garantia..

Having done research this looked like the best option as I was nervous of other models having to saw drainpipe in half. No need with this one though certainly apprehension when drilling the hole in the pipe for fitting. Like most UK drainpipes mine was 68mm so you need to trip the rubber collector to size. No instructions on this so I used scissors to snip off at the indent on each side. Like others said make sure the hole and pipe are horizontal- I used a spirit level to get it about right. Deep breath and drilled the hole in the pipe. Pushed the collector inside and used fingers to ensure it spread out. Certainly wasn’t perfect and I don’t understand why the don’t just make a 68mm version - anyway it’s in. Attached the pipes - I’d drilled hole in my water butt too and all fitted snugly. Raining today and it’s already full. Kept checking on the butt. No leaks once it went above the in pipe line. So working as designed. Very pleased

Dead simple to install. Can be a bit noisy when the rain inside the down pipe is hitting the capture scoop. Not an issue if installing away from the house or not near to a ground floor bedroom widow. I particularly like the fact that you can switch off the rain capture when your tank is full.

Easy to fit. Everything included. Hose was a bit too short for my use.

It took more than the advised 5 mins to fit this! My downpipe was at the smaller diameter of 70mm hence I had to trim this accordingly as recommended. ( my downpipe is plastic and not metal as mentioned in reviews on here to suggest that it wont work on plastic downpipes! ) Then, it was quite awkward to cram the rubber body into the hole drilled and ensure it made contact with the inside of the pipe. ( this is how it works ) After completion of setting up, I tested this and it does actually seem to work. Time will tell when it actually rains. Will report back when tested fully. Rained last night and filled my 240l tub up completely! No overspill so I assume it redirected surplus water back into downpipe. So it does work and worth a bit of hassle to fit! I recommend buying as big a water butt as your space will allow as it will fill very quickly when it rains.

I purchased this to complement my new garantia water butt. I followed the YouTube installation video, set it up and waited for the next rainy day. Several rainy days later, many minutes spent adjusting and readjusting, email to garantia (still waiting for a reply) and no water in my butt, I have returned it. I think the basic problems are 1, it doesn’t work well in 68mm downpipes, I know it quotes 70-100mm on the instructions, but garantia say it will work in 68mm. 2, It needs to be set up dead level, and with the corrugated pipe supplied that’s really difficult to achieve. Very disappointed
