OSTENT 5 Generation Version MD Card Flash Cartridge for Sega Mega Drive Genesis Master Console

It works as advertised and is completely reliable. First thing to do is make a backup of the included SD card. After that, plug it it and go. The save games work as expected. I can confirm that the Sega Master System games work as well as Sega CD images. You DON'T need a Power Base Converter for the master system games because the Genesis has that compatibility built into its design. The converter was nothing more than a physical adaptor to physically connect the system carts and cards to connect. The processing the data was always done on the console itself. You Do need a Sega CD connected for the Sega CD games to work. That's because the Sega CD has co-processors that the software expects and this cart is not an emulator for that hardware. It does work. I don't have a 32X to try with it, but its supposed to handle that as well. Just like the Sega CD, you need the co-processors of the 32X for those roms to work. All in all, its a great rom cart in its functions. It's build quality is acceptable, but its also where the corners were cut. It's built well enough to work reliably, but its not very tough. The pcb is thin and a worn cartridge slot my have trouble making good contact with it. I expect that's the most common problem that the negative reviews come from. Also the case is that thin, brittle plastic that I'm sure will break if you drop it on a hard floor. If your gonna use it for all or most of your gaming needs, then just plug it in and leave it. It should have a couple of decades of life in it and that's fine for the price.

Works well. The card that came with it unlike other reviews, does work fine for me. Has all the bios and everything. Was able to get a Japanese version of Sonic CD running on my American sega CD

If you don't feel up to shelling out lots of money for the current Mega Everdrive, this will work fine in a pinch. Just don't expect all the bells and whistles.

I don't know what people are complaining about, the menu is easy to use, everything is right where you need it, it only takes a few seconds to load a game that you select... What's the problem? it comes with basically every game made for the genesis, megadrive, master system and has a bios for SegaCD. So.. why complain? I had pre downloaded every game from the internet archive i'd ever want, but it already came loaded with everything. I even bought a 32gb card... I guess that's only useful if you want SegaCD games on it. The 4gb card that comes with it, already has everything I'd ever want to play ON it. How it works is, you plug it into the system like a normal cartridge, (I backed the card it came with onto my PC for safe keeping in case I bork this one.) Turn on your console, select the directory of games you want and select the game you want to play. Hit start. It deletes the previously loaded game from the qued game rom, and loads the selected game from the stash onto it and starts the game... It takes at MOST 10 seconds. The menu is simple to understand, there are DIRectories and games in them, you select them. done. You have a cheats menu to load in your game genie codes before you play the game you selected. The game you select stays qued in the rom ready to play every time you pop in the cartridge, just hit "play game" and it plays the last game loaded. hit CHEATS if you want to enter game genie codes, There are saves, I think you can hit the button on the top of the cartridge to save it (I haven't played with the save function yet) This thing is simple to use, loads fine, comes pre-loaded with every sega genesis, master system game you'd ever played or want to, and if you want more just google search: "Sega Genesis Roms Archive" and you can find ALL the roms ever made for free. THIS thing is awesome, you don't need to update the bios, if it works, it works, just buy it, pop it in, and love it. It's awesome. Well worth the money. I can't express how great this is for the Genesis fan who can't get or has lost all their games. I usedto own hundreds of titles, until they were stolen from me. NOW I have them ALL back and then some, I can even play all my old favs from the Master System like, ALF lol, it's all there. it's all in here, I only expected a few Genesis games, or like any other multi cart a bunch no one plays or ever heard of or likes at all, IF any games at all. I did not expect to get ... Everything. And they're the real roms, not weird rip-offs like, you can enter the sonic 2 sound test code and it works, unlike when you buy the "Sega Genesis controller with all games built in" bs thing and none of the codes work and all the games are... "different" in some odd way, be it the sound or some stages are wonky... NOPE! This is the real deal and it's not expensive when you consider what you'd pay for the OG carts. I still love and own, and collect the actual cartridges. but if I am going to bring the genesis over someone's place, or pack n go for travel, this thing is the go to. I love my collection, and now I don't have to wear down the contacts in the cartridges or anything it's all here on this. I did NOT expect it to be quite this awesome. All the games I grew up with, AND the games I never got to play or could afford, SOME of these I want to re buy now because I forgot how fun they were and I kinda want the box and manuals, so I am going to start hunting down CIB stuff like Sward Of Vermillion and Phantasy Star II. Man, this brought back all the fun and spark for the Genesis. 100% Recommend this to ANYONE who loved the console back in the day, and just wants to buy ONE do all cartridge. This isn't just a multi cart, this is... All of it and more. And you can drop your own directories in here and they just, SHOW UP. Like, if you want to copy some of the games into a new directory and label the folder, "Favorites" and have all of them where you can get to them fast without searching through the... HUNDREDS of games, you can do that. only 2gb of the 4 is used, so go nuts. You don't have to worry about copying the games and deleting from the original directory, just copy them, so what you got two in storage of the same, the games are like 1mb at most each, and most of them are only like 250k or so. So you can just go ham. This thing is my new favorite toy. Now I want one for all my consoles. If you're on the fence about getting this, and reading other reviews worried about if the interface is "weird" or the games "load slow" ...don't worry about it. Trust me, the thing's fine.

Haven't tested every game but sonic worked fine. Came well packaged and cool cartridge decal too.

The sd card was literally dead upon arrival. Tried putting a fresh OS on it, formatted to fat32 and everything nope. Busted out my own 4gb card and did same things and worked fine. Not to mention the price for this on Amazon is double what it is elsewhere. Obviously low quality here and high price.

It shipped the same day, got it here in the US in about 2 weeks, this does exactly what I wanted it to do. Easy to use and works fantastic, would definitely buy from this seller again

It’s not perfect- some roms are not in the correct region folder; takes some roms a bit long to load at first. But all in all for $51 this cart is great! and it’s plug and play, don’t worry about an SD or ROMs. If you have money for an EVERDRIVE- I’d say get an EVERDRIVE. If you’re on a budget get this guy now!

The cartridge had been delivered but without the SD card. I contacted the team and straight away they sent it in the post. Got it a few days later without any problems. The cartridge and SD card works perfectly. Overall very happy with the purchase and love the customer support.

This is an amazing cartridge when you figure out how to work it, if it comes up with errors when trying to load the games, this is what you do. 1. Do not update the firmware. 2. Get a 32GB Sd card and a SDHC adapter (not the ones included with the cartridge, these have the game files on it. 3. Put the micro Sd card into the SDHC adapter and put it into the everdrive cartridge, put the cartridge in the megadrive and turn the power on. 4. When the megadrive loads up the cartridge will format the S.D. card and install an EDMD folder onto it. 5. Power off the megadrive and take the SD card that came with the everdrive and copy each folder either on the desktop or a U.S.B. stick. 6. Put the new SD card that you formated in the everdrive and put that in your computer. 7. Now all you need to do is either drag and drop the saved game files into the new micro Sd EDMD folder, make sure that they go in the save folder. If you can't drag and drop, right click on the game file and click on copy, then click on the micro SD card, right click and select paste. 8. Put the micro SD card into the SDHC adapter and put this back into the everdrive cartridge, put it in the megadrive and power on, click on the choose game option, select a game, press the Start button and the game will copy to the cartridge memory letting you play the games!!! Enjoy.

Works like a charm! Make sure your files are in .md or .gen format or it may not work. Awesome having all my games on one cart! Takes about 5 - 10 seconds to flash a new game, which are easy to browse and load. Game stays loaded until you flash a new one. As long as the device holds up and can sustain many, many reflashings, this is a great product at a reasonable price! Now I need one for my snes…
