It does have a stretchy ring that could break if needed, so I felt comfortable putting it on my cat. One day, I saw her collar was missing (she does a lot of stupid stuff, hence my initial concern), but when I found the collar, not only was it intact yet, it alleviated my concerns about my cat accidentally choking herself if she got caught. He's a 2 year old stray Tomcat we just rescued and it fits him well. We keep the collar on the last buckle hole for the biggest setting, but for a snug fit I could technically put it in the next hole down. I prefer to give him some extra space though since he doesn't even attempt to try to get the collar off. It's lightweight and apparently comfortable. I got a custom ID tag with his info on case he gets out of the house which you can see in the photos but it comes with a bell that is good to be able to hear him wherever he might be.
