Sony BDPS360 Profile 2.0 Blu-ray Player with BD Live includes 3 Blu Ray titles (Slumdog Millionaire, Angels & Demons, Terminator Salvation)

We bought this as our first Blu-Ray player from reading many reports, recommendations and reviews such as this. Found the unpacking very easy and it was set-up very quickly. Different cables had to be sourced for connecting the player to our LCD HD TV which was nearly 4 years old and did not have a HDMI connection. It was connected via HDMI/DVI cable and a separate speaker cable for the sound. Once connected there was no having to adjust player or TV settings as this was all automatic. On the first viewing, I wanted to improve the quality of the image to HD (minimum 720p) and the menu selection was easily found and the setting altered. The player will increase to 1080p if required and if your LCD HD TV will work at that setting. The manual which came with the player was very helpful sorting the cables for connection, explaining all types of TV connection and then to explain the different settings that are available depending on your TV, its size and the film you are watching. We have connected the player to a Korean Humax LCD HD TV and the remote will only work for the player and has not affect on the TV controls. It was bought for use to play our existing DVD's too and the image quality does appear to be better than the image from our old DVD player connected by SCART cable. BD Live not used yet and will use this to update software as and when required to watch films in the future as technology improves. If you are looking for reliability via a longstanding company, we have all heard of Sony. There were other, cheaper, players available but the name and the knowledge that it had BD Live won us over. It actually looks quite stylish too in sleek black with the front tilting down to allow the disc to be inserted. Please remember that the unit has no connecting cable to your TV which in our case was suitable due to the sockets we were able to use. If you like the player but are not sure of the connections you can make to your TV, then the manual illustrates all those that can be made. We have had the player for month and have not regreted the purchase with a much better improvement in viewing quality.

Got his machine today at the best price around, thanks Amazon. From unboxing to watching a movie, around 10 minutes. No issues, no niggles. First class picture and easy to use. What more could you want? It is paired with a Sony v5500 full HD television and a Sky HD box. I cannot comment on other brands as this is my first Blu Ray player but I cannot fault it.

I bought this for my boyfriend & he loves it. It's a great picture and doesn't take too long to load like some blu ray dvd players do. The free dvd's were a bonus. We watched Terminator Salvation and the quality was excellent. I shopped around and the only down side I read on other reviews was that it took too long to load. I don't agree with this at all as some take up to 3 mins and this one only about 1 min 30 secs max. All in all I highly recommend this player.

Nice product promptly delivered. Now Ive used it I wonder did I need it as DVD upscaling (if you have that) is very close in quality. My eyes are not that great I can see much difference. Taking the significant extra cost of a blu-ray disk opposed to a standard DVD disk it makes it questionable and probably the reason why Blu Ray hasnt done as well as expected. Lower the price of blu ray disks it may make more sense If I had the opportunity of trying it first its doubtful I would have bought one to be fair. Nothing wrong with the unit however. At least it plays DVDs as well as Blu Ray

Easy to set up if you have HDMI on your TV. Tried mine via HDMI to DVI because the TV is HD ready and is HDCP Compliant only to find it is not suitable for all TV's. Working through component leads recommended OK. Also standard DVD's work OK through HDMI when I set the TV to PC mode. Sound is then available using component leads connected to AV amplifier. Generally Pleased with the player but slightly disappointed that I cannot play blueray disc through the HDMI lead to experiece the best effects of this unit.

As per the title for this review, this little Blu-ray player is fantastic - the sound is incredible and the visuals are just as spectacular! I bought a very expensive Toshiba HDDVD last Christmas, but this Sony unit is in a different league. The levels of black detail and colours are far superior with Blu-rays and marginally better with standard definition DVDs (upscaled of course). Ok, it takes a little longer to load up full Blu-rays but believe me, its worth the wait! Very easy to install (I also have a full HD Sony TV so this must have helped) and I was up and running in glorious HD sound and vision in only 20 mins or so. It has a very clear remote and the on screen set up/home menu is esay to navigate. I bought this unit with 3 Blu-ray discs making this a brilliant value purchase. I actually watched the new Terminator movie in the cinema when it came out but much prefer the quality at home with this player. In summary, buy this machine, you will not be disappointed!

First off this is an excellent budget player, and to be honest its alot better than most players twice as expensive. The quality is superb, and the menus and controller make it a pleasure to use. However beware of the delivery network amazon use. I was out when they delivered it, so they just left it outside my door. The player was in no brown package or anything, it clearly said blu ray player on the front, and it was just left outside my door. In all fairness i do have a gate and hedge, but none the less it could of easily been stolen.

After months of searching, I decided to purchase this item. The picture quality on this is brilliant. Mind you, I find you only see a huge difference when you are watching an action film, like Transformers or Terminator, where the smallest of detail is really clear. Also the 3 DVD's we got with them was ok, it had variety. In terms of price, the item was good in comparison to other places, where the price was more and didn't come with the free DVD's so that was a bonus. It is a definite must-have!!!!
