Is this good for kids noise? My husband is working from home

No, they are muffs so they just muffle noise. You'll have to shut your kids up for it to be quiet.

I am experiencing a great deal of static with these? Does anyone know why?

Try to adjust the volume control down a bit and see if it picks it up away from electronic devices. Mine did that at first and then quit suddenly - I think it maybe some type of interference picked up in your location. Our is working fine now - I turn it to med or low so it doesn't amplify all the sounds around us at rang e- wind or Hvac systems.

They have been great. however i unfortunately nicked one of the wires. they will work if i apply slight pressure to the cut. how would i fix this?

If there is enough wire before it goes into the case of the head set or the band you could try a crimped splicers. This will only work if there is about 3/8 inch of wire available from ear cup or head band.
