Ergo Pad
This is a nice product. I am the type to fill a bag to the brim, and carry it for long hours. This of course causes my shoulder to hurt, no matter what type of bag I have. If I happen to have a messenger bag, the strap (if not freakishly thick) digs into my shoulder makeing that hurt along with my back. I bought this item to try and see how it works. I attatched it over a semi thick pad that is on one of my messengers, and so far so good. My shoulder doesn't hurt as much. If the person using this doesn't have some material under it, the plastic/rubber may rub or dig in, but I have worn a thin shirt and it worked fine. Of course the only way to stop back pain is to lighten my load, but the shoulder pain, is much better now, and if the bag doesn't have a padded strap on it, I use this and it works great. The types of snaps on it look like they will last a long time, which is great since I keep on switching this item over to different bags! I will probably buy different colors to help it not stand out with some bags! Over all I am very happy with my purchase.

Does the Job, But Hurts Without More Padding
I was trying to save money so I purchased the less expensive of two strap pads that both looked good. This went on my shoulder strap for the case I bring to work every day. It DOES stay put on my shoulder, but OUCH! it hurts! When I put my shoulder bag on my shoulder first, and then put this on top of it, it stays put, and it doesn't hurt. It's just not good alone because the pad is hard and digs in. For my other bag, I've wised up and I'm spending a bit more money, and purchasing the more expensive no-slip shoulder pad. If you can put your purse shoulder strap under this pad, buy it and do so. It will work well. However, if you don't use a should bag and you've nothing with which to pad your shoulder, spring for a more expensive pad and avoid this one.

No More Off The Shoulder Problems !!
To begin with I'm not a briefcase kind of guy, I prefer a messenger bag and I have a great one. The only problem that I have had is that depending what coat I wear the strap slides off my shoulder. This is very annoying especially if I have a cup of coffee in my hand...I looked at several strap pads, here at Amazon, as well as a couple of outdoor outfitters and settled on this one, and I am glad that I did...No more slipping at all. the strap stays firmly on my shoulder as it should.

OK, but...
With several jackets I own, my laptop case's strap just slides off my shoulder. I was looking for a strap that offered more "grip" and wouldn't let my laptop slide off my shoulder. This IS better than the shoulder pad that came with the laptop case, but not a lot better. I can make it from the parking lot to my office readjusting my laptop case's strap twice instead of four or five times. I was really hoping for a "set it and forget it" sort of thing. The other issue is that the shoulder pad stinks. I don't know what sort of rubber or plastic they used, but it stinks. The smell is slowly diminishing, but I make sure my case is as far from my desk at work as I can manage inside a cubicle. That wasn't quite far enough at first. I'll probably wind up buying a different shoulder pad.

Painful with just a shirt
I purchased the 2" ErgoPad to use on a camera bag (three lenses, one body, flash, etc.). The reviews look good, so I thought I would give it a try. The bottom side of the ErgoPad has a field of small raised circles. The good news is that the pad did not slip off my shoulder, the bad is they dug into my shoulder. I would expect that the pad would be great with a medium jacket, but definitely not with a Polo shirt. I will be taking the ErgoPad off the bag, and reinstall the original padded strap.

Tough, strong, grippy--and the odor can be managed
I've used Ergo Pads for years to prevent my (always heavy) handbags and carry bags from sliding off my shoulder. I'm so happy they're still available. I bought the wider ones. They're just as tough and sturdy as they always were, BUT... they do have a chemical odor right out of the package (they didn't years ago when I first bought them, and the pads lasted decades before finally wearing through at the thinnest part). Ergo has a solution; here's what they told me when I asked before buying (I haven't tried their suggestion yet, but these pads are shoulder savers, so I'll soak them before use.): "There is a faint smell from the TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) material from which the ErgoPad is constructed. This can be taken care of by leaving the ErgoPad in a baking soda/water mixture (1:1) overnight. It won't hurt the ErgoPad but should take away the smell."

Doesn't cling to shoulder
I hoped this would cling to my sloping shoulders similarly to a strap pad I have that is similar in appearance. However, this pad is made of a material that has little inherent friction, which seems to me to contradict its appearance. If you don't need the friction, any old pad will do as well.
