Vanguard Shirt Stays - Black

I've been using shirt garters for years. I'm a former military officer so, in Class A's or Dress Blues keeping your shirt looking well tucked and gig line straight was important. In civilian life the habit stayed alive because I think it really adds a polished look to a suit and dress shirt. I tried various designs over the years. 1.) Sock to shirt with 3 alligator clips - 3 failure points that failed constantly. 2.) Stirrup to shirt with 2 alligator clips - 2 failure points that failed constantly. 3.) Thigh mounted with velcro and 6 alligator clips - Bulky and showed under pants. 4.) Stirrup and these stocking style clips - Zero failures. These do not slip off. And they're comfortable. These shirt garters are also well made and very well priced. I've seen a few comments here from people who have found them hard to use. Pro tip, 1.) Lay your shirt on your bed and attach the clips to the shirt before you put it on. 2.) Then put the shirt on and button it up. 3.) Then sit down and put the stirrups on your feet. 4.) Now put on your socks over the stirrups. 5.) Make sure the shirt is straight in front. 6.) Put your pants on and make sure your gig line is straight. That's it. No struggling with the clips or trial and error. Another tip, adjust the tension to be loose. You want a clean look that's also comfortable. It doesn't look good if the shirt looks like it's being ripped off you and that level of tension is also really annoying. For guys taller than about 6'0" there should be a longer option. One other nice feature of the stirrups is that the straps have a nice fuzzy nap on both sides that makes them comfortable and helps them slide over your skin without chafing. All in all, this is the best design I've ever found. EDIT 5/14/2024: I ordered a second pair of these and received them this morning. I tossed my stirrup style with alligator clips I owned along with my thigh mounted style with velcro straps and alligator clips in the trash. This is the only style I'll use from this point forward.

Have used these to help give me a crisp uniform look. The stirrup design works far better for me that the clip on style they are more comfortable and stay in place longer. Will reorder.

Third set I have bought in about 25-30 years. I wear them everyday at work. I think these are much better than the ones that clip onto your socks. I use a pocket knife and cut a small hole near the bottom of my shirts in front and back. Large enough to push the rubber clip button thru then secure it. By doing this it will never come loose. Yes I now have 4 small holes in my dress shirts but you will never see them since the shirts tucked in. And I have found that these holes will not tear out more or get and larger. Works perfectly

This brand is typically good. Worth the cost especially when you need to try and look professional. Used for years and shirt stayed tucked in without a muffin top. Just started using a new set after my last set took about a year of wear and tear. New set not doing so well. its been a week of usage and the stitching of the hook that goes around the foot is already coming undone. 3 stars only because I had to buy another set to replace the one that is falling apart. Fits well (as it is adjustable), easy to use, and comfortable as the rubber does not rub against the calf as the ones that attach to the socks do.

Would definitely reccomend over shirt stays that clip onto your socks, but be warned that these can still slip and sling shot up your leg. Tighten them before you put them on, the tightening feature is very secure.

The ship stays did exactly what I was expecting. They are secure and do not slip off. I found that they work better with thinner materials as the "old-fashion" garden hose connection is a friction fit between strong wire frame and the plastic (round) wedge. Thicker materials such as cotton, wool or flannel will be harder to secure. Also if double layers of a polyester or silk material are secured the wedge will be much harder to secure into the wire frame. My application was to secure a polyester uniform shirt material to stay down in my trousers and not pull up. I am quite happy with the results and would recommend this product, especially with thinner shirt materials.

Second time I have ordered these…..love em,keeps my uniform tucked in.
