Boutique Beer: 500 Quality Craft Beers

This book has very good descriptions of the beers and the author has a very casual writing style that includes a very good sense of humor, however the author (who is British) distributes the beers all across the world and only a small fraction are American or Canadian beers. If your objective in buying this book, like mine, is to find the recommended beers then you will be disappointed because the actual number of these 500 beers that are going to be available to the average American is very limited.

The most delicious beer encyclopedia ever - thirsty work reading through and investigating such a well researched and well written book. Most enjoyable!

In addition to a discussion of the components of beer as well as the glassware in which it should be served, there are various brewery profiles, including descriptions of the breweries and the brewmasters. The book also includes suggestions of what beers to pair with the various beers. The index is detailed and helpful."Boutique Beer" is a quality production, containing full-page color photos of beers, breweries, and the like. Anyone interested in craft beer will find it enjoyable and enlightening.

This is a nicely done book that contains a wealth of information not just on specific beers (though it does that) but on much more besides. Beginning with a discussion of the components of beer as well as the glassware (e.g., pilsner, tulip, goblet, flute), "Boutique Beer" then gives brief descriptions of some 500 beers of just about every major type, from lambic and gueuze to pilsners to stouts to belgian tripels, etc., etc. Scattered throughout are various brewery profiles, which include descriptions of the breweries and the brewmasters. Helpful suggestions are given of what foods to pair with various of the beers. A fairly detailed and helpful index is included."Boutique Beer" is nicely put together with many many pleasing full-page color photos of beers, breweries, and the like. This is a great book for one's own use or to give to a friend who is interested in craft brewing.
