Q: Is the sticky piece something you remove or is it supposed to stay on when you install? Mine was damaged.

Remove the paper that's over the stick glue. The sticky piece stays on to make the bond to toilet

Q: Can you re-install if you mess up and have to lift the toilet and try again? For example the bolts get displaced too much or the threads are damaged

It depends. I've used these on about a dozen toilet installs and will never use a wax ring again. A couple of times I've had to remove a toilet after initially seating (both because the spread of the toilet bolts were off and the caps wouldn't conceal the slots). In one case the seal came out easily and remained intact, in the other it partly separated from the toilet horn so I replaced the seal for peace-of-mind (always have a spare...). Preparation of the mating surfaces will affect whether you can remove without compromising the seal: (1) clean out the closet flange of old wax and make sure the perimeter is free of any burrs (often, when the knock-out is removed, the installer doesn't bother to smooth the rough edges left behind); and (2) be sure to lube the entire exterior of the seal to help it slide into place as this also help it come out should you need to remove. I use plumber's grease (made to be safe for rubber) although the instructions suggest an always-available, rubber-safe solution -- dishwashing liquid.

Q: Do they make one for a 2.5" ID Drain Pipe? If not, is there a wax free solution available?

check with a plumbing supply house about to measure pipe size. I t is probably 3 inch pipe.

Q: Does this version really have two ribs? The ones I see at my local hardware store has 4 ribs.
