Q: How long is the cord?

Hi dear, thank you for your attention on this automatic trickle charger, this length of this charger's cord is totally 10FT when hooking leads to the batteries, with an extra fuse on the O-ring connectors, much convenient and safety for users daily use.

Q: If the AC power goes out and then comes back on, does this charger automatically resume charging with the previously selected charge voltage mode?

Hi dear, this trickle charger features with 6V/12V selectable charging mode, the (OLD VERSION) default vaule is 12V, that's, it will be back to 12V mode when power off suddenly. But Sep 2019, according to user's feedback, we updated it with MEMORY FUNCTION, it will stay on the charging mode you chose even power off happens, don't worry.

Q: So is this a battery charger or a maintainer?

This unit is both a battery charger and maintainer. I use them on my 2 quads and boat batteries . So far they have performed excellently. For the price and performance I would give them five stars. I have used similar products for years now and they are still working great. Purchase 3 of these due to the price differentials. One failed however but I still remain pleased with the remainder.

Q: how long can it be hooked to the battery,3mos.,6 mos, 1 yr ,3 yrs longer . This is for a generator that may not be used offten, hurricane !

first off there is a battery maintainer and there is a trickle charger ok the battery maintainer is made to be use 24/7 365 it turns on and shuts off as needed it monitors the batteries voltage a trickle charger is only for short term use leaving it on for more then 24 hours will cook a battery a 2 amp maintainer is is more then enough for long term use and is what I recommend stay away from trickle chargers unless you are going to use it for a couple of hours at a time as over time they will boil a battery dry and of course when looking at maintainers buy a good one not the cheap things everyone wants to sell you I have a motorcycle battery that has been installed back in 2001 I just changed it last year not because it went bad but because the terminals were broken it makes that much of a difference hope this helps you understand this more Dan
