Yes, Mixol is compatible with beeswax and other waxes, such as petroleum based waxes. It is also compatible with all kinds of resins, including damar. It is very satisfactory with these mediums because it disperses very well. You can mix it with a palette knife or a spoon, etc. Thank you for your inquiry. Cynthia McCollum

I wish I could provide a good answer but I am confused as to what you are doing. Assuming you mean that you are using a glass object and not fusing glass, I would ask you why would you consider substituting food coloring with Mixol Universal Tints. Maybe because you don't have all the colors you need? I would then suggest to buy them. Food coloring does not have the high pigmentation that Mixol tints possesses. You will end up diluting your color because you are incorporating water into the mix. You might end up with a translucent coloration and not the saturated color you seem to describe you want. If you give me more info on what you are trying to acheive, I can better help you. If I were doing it I would not use food coloring. I might add this as well. I beleive that you would end up with a medium that would easily rub off with handling. Universal tints are NOT paints. If you paint with them alone, they will never dry. They must be mixed with a binding medium such as acrylic, oil or latex paint, stain, etc. You can use a clear medium which contains the correct sheen you want (flat, semi-gloss, high gloss), or you amend your already tinted paint or stain to either alter the color or increase the intensity of the hue. (make it darker). If you still want to try it, may I suggest you mix up a small amount of mediums, one with food coloring and one with only universal tints. Prep your glass, bake it off or do whatever curing process, and test them for durability. I think the one with the food coloring will scratch off easily.
