Q: Why does this not come with a tailpiece and securing nut? Doesn't look like they are included from the photo

This comes with evrything needed to install. Mine came with the nut and extension that slips into the lower existing pipe.

Q: Is there a hair catcher that is compatible with this drain? I had to clean mine out today, and it was a bit of a process.

There isn't one that I could find that works with the unique stopper this drain uses. If you don't use the stopper on a regular basis you can simply use any strainer trap that fits it. You do need to use a shallow one though, as the threaded cross piece the stopper threads into isn't very far down in the opening. I found some small stainless steel ones that just drop in and fit well on Amazon. Not expensive, either. Good luck.
